CARBON SEQUESTRATION

It is commonly assumed that Cambrian wood of trees is where carbon is stored. The amount of carbon stored in Cambrian wood is minuscule compared to the amount sequestered by fungi in the soil. These colonies need massive amounts of carbon to sustain their physical structure, or “hyphae strands”.

Healthy soil should contain 300 micrograms of carbon per gram of soil. If all agricultural land in the US was contained these fungal colonies, it would take less than 6 ½ years to return atmospheric carbon levels below the safe level defined by the United Nations IPCC.

WATER CONSERVATION

The use of Biologically Optimized agriculture can significantly increase water retention in the soil. Up to 40% of the water retained in soil is stored in the cellular membranes of micro- and macro-organisms.

The cost saving possibilities in California specifically are substantial. Along with savings in the actual cost of water, California has established numerous grant programs to support regenerative agriculture. These programs can be used to save costs for our clients.

We are creating a network of partners to quantify and monetize carbon sequestration and water savings. This includes advanced satellite monitoring, carbon NFTs and government funding. We believe the old moniker “reap what you sow”. Farmers who us regenerative practices should be rewarded.
